As it starts to get colder here in Illinois, my family is trying to enjoy the times we could visit parks and forest preserves.
Independence Grove Forest Preserve is located at 16400 Buckley Rd., Libertyville, Illinois. We have visited the place a couple of times during summer, and we adore the place.
Independence Grove Forest Preserve is a large forest preserve (centered on a 115-acre lake) where you and your family can have a relaxing time spent with nature. This can be a perfect place where you can relax while practicing social distancing. It's an incredible place to show and teach your kids about Mother nature.
You can enjoy your workout here, whether by just walking or jogging. In addition, we are so pleased with the well-maintained trails. You'd really enjoy riding your bicycle here.
It is incredibly well-kept, so you'd surely love staying here. You can also watch the beautiful sunset with your loved ones. The scenery at Independence Grove Forest Preserve is just so amazing.
There was also a time when we saw a group of people having a photoshoot.
Since we have a pandemic, expect that most facilities (toilets, water fountains, cafe) are closed. But they usually have boat and bicycle rentals, as well as fishing areas.
At the time of this writing, you don't have to pay an entrance fee. But during regular season, they'd charge $6-$12 per car depending on the day you visit and whether you're a Lake County resident or not.
During summer, expect to see more people as this place is a local favorite.
My kids enjoyed its Play Area the most.
Here's a gallery of photos I've taken during our most recent visit (October 2020, Autumn).
