Death: What Does The Bible Say About It?

Updated: Dec 6, 2020

Christian, although all believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior may have different understanding of the concept of death.

A very intriguing question is,

"What does happen to a person after he dies?"

For some, there is a temporary place where souls go to after dying. That place is where a soul gets purified before he can enter the Kingdom of God. Others believe that a person is in a very deep state of sleep until Jesus comes-- either to redeem the person or judge him.

These are two opposing beliefs. But what does the Bible REALLY say about DEATH?

As a Christian, it is your responsibility to seek the truth. The truth cannot be found in the mouths of your ministers, pastors, or priests. It is the BIBLE that should be the ultimate source of our knowledge about God and human nature, as well as the future.

I'm sharing with you some of my favorite BIBLE verses related to DEATH.

Daniel 12: 2

Daniel 12:2

John 11: 11-14

John 11: 11-14

Luke 8: 52

Luke 8: 52

Both the Old and New Testaments have clearly explained to us that dying is like sleeping. Search Daniel 12:2, John 11: 11-14, and Luke 8: 52. Even Jesus Christ, God the Son, referred to Lazarus and to the daughter of Jairus (the synagogue leader) as sleeping when they died.

Genesis 3:19

Genesis 3:19

Genesis 3: 19 have explained that after dying, our human body will return into dust. Because of sin, DEATH entered the Earth.

But our Heavenly Father sent Jesus Christ His Only Son to redeem us. Jesus' precious blood shed so we can enter the kingdom of heaven.

Ecclesiastes 9: 5-6

Ecclesiastes 9: 5-6

God, through Ecclesiastes 9: 5-6, gave us the knowledge that once a person dies, he is not capable anymore of thinking or feeling. Everything about him has perished.

From this verse, it is also wise to say that the dead has no capability of communicating to the living.

Revelation 14: 12-13

Revelation 14: 12-13

If the Holy Bible says, a person is like sleeping after he dies, when does judgment come then?

Revelation 14: 12-13 clearly states that it is during Jesus Christ's second coming will HE judge and separate the faithful from the unjust.

I hope that my favorite Bible verses about death will give you hope and enlightenment. It would be wonderful if you could do your own diligence to search the Holy Scriptures. Don't forget to pray and invite the Holy Spirit to guide you prior reading.

The Holy Bible has very deep revelations that are sometimes beyond our human comprehension.

Trust God and His will. A blessed day to you all!
